The name comes from the Sanskrit words Shava (शव, Śava) meaning “corpse”, and Asana (आसन, Āsana) meaning “posture”, all together: शवासन
Savasana, also spelled Shavasana or Shivasana, literally means corpse pose.
Why Shavasana for me and for the this blog?
I always been passionate for writing. Anything. At a young age i owned maybe 5 different diaries, a few agendas and always wrote journals about the Family trips. That habits never vanished. I won a few poetry and story writing prizes back in primary school and could loose myself in Essays..i just needed a pen and a paper…the words and my imagination would flow easily.
I remember that when i first learnt what a blog was i decided to sign in a few of them, but never had the patience to finish or publish anything because i never understood the terms. Until 2 years ago when so many things were happening in my life that i had the urge to share it with the world.
The word Shavasana, I heard it first at the end of my first yoga class. While my teacher was guiding us through it, i was in complete relaxation, lightness and in a place that i have never been. This was 6 years ago and i still have that sensation of almost floating on my yoga mat..it was surreal..With this powerful feeling i told to myself that i had to give something special the name of Shavasana.
Shavasana is perhaps the most important part of yoga practice. It is intended to rejuvenate body, mind, and spirit. After the exertions of the practice, shavasana allows the body a chance to regroup and reset itself..And that’s exactly what i wanted for my first project. With my passion for Spa and Yoga i decided to put this two together and call Shavasana to my first Company and project. Shavasana a Sanctuary of Wellness where i built for the first time (back in 2008) little packages that after i start calling wellness programs that included therapeutic massages and yoga classes combo. I was performing privately and slowly my name started to circulate in Macau. And then the blog – Lifestyle in Shavasana was born. Today, we offer Yoga Spa and Therapeutic treatments, Holistic Nutrition and Wellness Coaching. Like every other business, i started small and let’s see what the future holds. I dream big Baby!
